[ Abstract ]
We investigated that the adjacent clinical medicine intelligible technical terms on diseases of TMJ --especially TMD--. Seven doctors of different fields discussed the standards and essential conditions and medical treatment of TMD. Consequently, it was evident that the disease name of so-called TMD is different from the one in the adjacent clinical medicine.
We reexamined the general idea of so-called TMD for that reason. We extracted Osteoarthritis of TMJ(Fig.19) and Enthesitis of Lateral Pterygoid Muscle(Fig.20) from those diseases because the two diseases were able to make diagnosis.

[ Abstract ]
A sample of 3108 students from eight high schools in Japan was investigated by means of a two-item questionnaire. The questionnaire included the occurrence of symptoms or signs of mandibular arthrosis and the history of external force on the mandible in junior high. Statistical analysis of the data showed that the symptom-rate of students with a history of external force on the mandible was higher than those with no history. It is suggested that the prevalence of mandibular arthrosis in young people might be associated with the history of external force on the mandible in their younger days.
Appearance symptoms was comparing the history of external force on the mandible and not history. ( man )
